Pink Ivory, Berchemia zeyheri, from South Africa comes in many shades from bright pink to red to pale brown and can fade to light brown after polishing and general oxidistaion. It is a hard wood and is described as both scarce and common but is not on any endangered lists. It has good turning properties and produces a sweet tone.
